Keeping in view, the concern of farmers, there have been lots of innovations in the agriculture sector. One of which is the invention of Electric tractors that are as efficient as the ones that run on diesel & also curb air pollution at the same time. Hence, these tractors will become an important part of sustainable agriculture in the coming future. 

Electric Tractors in India: Save Up to 25% Money While Curbing Air Pollution

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural UniversityHisar has designed such a ‘Fully Swadeshi Electric Tractor’. This model has been developed by the University's College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology and is the first research on e-tractor in any university in the country. 

This project has been executed under the supervision of Professor Dr.  Mukesh Jain, Scientist and Director, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering.  

Best Features: 

  • This electric tractor is fitted with a 2 kWh lithium-ion battery

  • It has a 12 kW electric brushless DC motor, which runs on 72 V and spins 2000 times in a minute

  • The tractor battery can be fully charged in 9 hours.For convenience, it also has the option of fast charging, for which just 4 hours is enough.

  • Once charged, this e-tractor can be carried up to 80 km with a 1.5 ton trailer. 

  • The maximum speed of this tractor is 17 kmph. It has a drawbar pull i.e. pull and forward power of 77 percent, which means that this tractor is capable of lifting 770 kg.

  • This tractor can save upto25% money when compared to the diesel-run tractors.
