Tractor is the most important agricultural machinery for farmers. Farming becomes easy by connecting multiple implements with a tractor. Tractor also plays an important role in the preparation of the field. Tractor saves both time and labor.

But many farmers whose economic condition is weak, are not able to buy it. Keeping this in mind, the subsidy is given by the government to such farmers to buy tractors. This subsidy is provided by different state governments as per the rules set by them.

Generally, 20% to 50% subsidy is given by the government for the purchase of tractors. In this, priority is given to women and farmers belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

Subsidy up to 1 lakh to Buy Tractor in UP

In UP, a 30% subsidy is given to farmers to buy a new tractor. This subsidy is provided by the Horticulture Department to the farmers. There is a provision to provide a subsidy of up to Rs 75,000 to general farmers and Rs 1 lakh for scheduled caste farmers for the purchase of tractors up to 20 HP.

Earlier the general and scheduled castes used to get a grant of 1.5 lakh rupees, but this year the amount has been reduced. Apart from this, a 25% subsidy is also given by the state agriculture department to buy tractors.

Under this, a subsidy of up to Rs 45,000 is provided for the purchase of tractors. On the other hand, the grant on the tractor, as well as the 8 HP power tiller, has been reduced from 50 to 40 thousand rupees by the Horticulture Department of the state.

Giving information in this regard, Director of Horticulture and Food Processing Dr. RK Tomar said that the grant has been reduced on the purchase of a tractor and power tiller. Farmers desirous of grants as per the prescribed standards can submit applications to the District Horticulture Officer's office by 30th November 2021.

Register to take Advantage of Subsidy 

To get a tractor on subsidy, the farmer in UP has to first register on the website of the Agriculture Department, Uttar Pradesh &  then apply for a subsidy to the District Horticulture Officer. You will also have to provide proof that you have money available for the equipment you are going to buy because the amount of subsidy is available to the farmer after buying the machine, first the farmer has to pay the full amount.

How to Get Subsidy for New Tractor

Applications are invited from time to time on behalf of the State Horticulture Department or Agriculture Department for subsidy on tractors & agricultural machinery on subsidy. The conditions that have been set by the government to apply for this are as follows-

  • This scheme is only for small & marginal farmers, so affluent farmers & landlords will not be able to take advantage of this scheme.

  • To get a subsidy for buying a new tractor, it is necessary to register first.

  • The first condition for registration is that the farmer should not have bought a tractor in the last seven years.

  • To take advantage of this scheme, the applicant farmer must have cultivable land in his own name.

  • A farmer can buy only one tractor. Under this, only one farmer from the family can apply.

  • The farmers joining this scheme should not be involved in any other agricultural machinery subsidy scheme.

Documents Required

Farmers will need some necessary documents to apply for buying a tractor on subsidy. These documents are as follows-

  • Applicant Farmer Identity Proof (Aadhar Card).

  • Land papers in the name of the farmer.

  • Passbook of the applicant farmer's bank account.

  • Farmer's mobile number.

  • Farmer's passport size photograph.
