Garlic and Onion Peels

Onion and garlic are the two most widely used vegetables all around the world. But many of us throw away their skins or peels...isn't it? You will be amazed to know that they are actually nutrient dense and have numerous household uses as well.

The outer skins of garlic and onion are high in vitamins A, C, E, and antioxidants. Onion skin is also high in flavonoids, particularly quercetin, a powerful antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory.

Peeling garlic removes the phenylpropanoid antioxidants that protect the heart and aid in the battle against aging, as well as boosting immunity and lowering cholesterol. Don't be surprised if you find garlic peels in healthy goods on the market.

It should be noted that in order to get the most out of onions and garlic peels, use organic wherever feasible to prevent ingesting pesticides sprayed on the veggies' outer layers.
