Ingredients for Bay Leaf Tea

Bay leaf, commonly known as Tej Patta is an aromatic leaf that comes from the laurel tree, which grows in warm climatic conditions. Bay leaves have long and pointy ends.  It is commonly used as a spice in Indian cuisines. They are available in the form of dried, fresh, or grounded powder. Bay leaves also have ornamental purposes.  

Let us take a look at some other uses and benefits of Bay leaf. 

Health Benefits of Tej Patta 

  • Bay leaf is an excellent source of antioxidants such as Vitamin A, C, B6, iron, potassium, etc.

  • It also has a strong effect on the gastrointestinal tract. The substances that are found in it promote digestive tract health and also have a soothing effect on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). 

  • Bay leaf also helps in reducing stress. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which prevent the body from inflammation.

Bay Leaf Recipes 

Check out some delicious recipes that can be made with bay leaf;

1. Bay leaf concoction

This is a concoction of the bay leaf with the goodness of cinnamon. It helps in promoting a healthy digestive tract. It also helps in losing weight. It is a stimulator of insulin that helps in increasing the metabolism rate of your body. 

Ingredients 

To prepare this tea you will need 1-2 bay leaves, 1 cinnamon stick or powder, 2 cups of water, honey, and lemon. 

Method 

In a pan pour 2 cups of water. Add the cinnamon stick and bay leaves to it. Boil it for 6-7 minutes. Turn off the flame. Strain this water. Add lemon and honey to it as per your taste. 

2. Bay leaf Tea

Ingredients 

For making this tea, you will require 2 cups of water, some milk, sugar, and 3 fresh bay leaves.  

Method 

In a pan pour some water and add the bay leaves. Boil this mixture for 5-6 minutes while covering with a lid. Turn off the flame now. Strain the leaves out and pour this mixture in a cup. Add sugar and milk as per your taste and enjoy.
