Mango is known as king of fruits and it is the reason for which many of us love summers and wait for it. There are many varieties of mango grown in the country, having different colour and tastes.

No doubt, mangoes possess great nutritional value with many vitamins and minerals, and are packed with numerous health benefits. But beware, even if you love mangoes too much, excess consumption of mangoes can be harmful for your health.

  • Over consumption of mangoes may lead to diarrhoea. As mango is rich in fibre and excess fibre consumption can cause diarrhoea.

  • To get more mangoes ready in early summers, artificial ripening is done using calcium carbide, and it is a harmful chemical and may lead to any severe health problem.

  • Diabetes patients must not over-eat mangoes, as they are high in natural sugars and can be harmful for diabetes patients.

  • Mango is fruit with hot potency and may increase body’s temperature and therefore it may lead to acne, pimples, rashes, and stomach irritation.

  • Over consumption of raw mangoes can cause indigestion problem.

  • Some people may be allergic to mangoes and can experience watery eyes, breathing problems, runny nose, etc.

  • If you are following the weight control diet, then also you must consume mangoes in moderation, as overeating mangoes may lead to weight gain in some people.

Excess consumption of anything is not good, and same is in the case of mango. And last but not the least, enjoy summers and consume mangoes; but in moderate amount, because the list of benefits is much longer than the list of side effects for the king of fruits.
