We mostly like to take curd with the rest of the food in our plate. But we should know about what we should eat with whom. If we are combining two different foods that can be beneficial at the same time, it can also cause harm to our body. Moong dal and curd both are very nutritious food in themselves; but can we eat them together?

If we talk about moong dal, it is a protein rich food. Moong dal is very good source of Antioxidants, Phosphorus and Magnesium, which are very helpful in maintaining normal heartbeat. On the other hand, curd is also good source of protein, along with vitamin C, B12 and calcium.

We can see both moong dal and curd share almost same nutrition properties and this makes sense that we can eat both together. Curd with moong dal would not only enhance the taste, but also increase the quantity and quality of the food.

Generally, Indian people eat khichdi of moong dal with curd. It is a very common food of every household in India. Curd is an integral part of moong dal khichdi. Combination of khichdi and curd not only calms the digestive system, but also improves immunity and energy. Khichdi and curd together make a high protein diet. They are a great source of macro-nutrients.

On the other hand, it is recommended not to eat curd with Urad dal. Combination of urad dal and curd can disrupt our digestion in a long run. It can cause acidity, gas bloating and also even diarrhea.

What should not be eaten with curd?

There are also some other food material with which should not be eaten with curd. Curd should not be teamed with following food items:

Mango:

It is advised to avoid mango with curd because both have different flavors and nutrition which can cause harm to the body if eaten together.

Paratha:

Consumption of paratha with curd is quite common in our home but it can have a bad effect on your body. It can affect your digestion.

Fish:

Fish and curd both are very good source of required nutrition but individually. If you are consuming them together then it can invite many diseases.

Milk:

Milk and curd both are dairy products but there combined consumption can cause diarrhea, gas stomach pain.

Conclusion

Consumption of moong dal and curd is beneficial for health. We can eat them together as they would not only increase the flavor of food but would also provide protein rich meal. For example, khichdi (moong dal, rich + curd) is beneficial for all age groups, but comparatively it is more beneficial for old age people because they usually suffer from weak digestion and khichdi is an ideal food for that.
