Consume These Seven Foods to Boost your Immunity & Fight against Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus has become a ‘public health emergency of international concern’ and so far killed over 3,000 people and infected more than 88,000 across the world. Some of the most common symptoms of the novel coronavirus that you need to know are fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat and breathing problem.

Covid-19 has killed 2,888,698 people across the world till now. Some of the most common symptoms of the novel coronavirus that you need to know are fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat and breathing problem.  Dr. Saras Salil who runs his own clinic in Delhi says “It is important to practice basic hygiene such as washing hands with antiseptic hand wash. And use oil-based hand sanitizer while traveling. Apart from this, Dr Salil suggests keeping your hands & fingers away from your mouth, eyes & nose. He said that food plays an important role in boosting your immunity and that is why it is better to avoid eating raw foods like raw meat, egg, vegetables to safeguard the immunity.

Below we have given some foods that are suggested to be consumed on regular basis to boost immunity.

Tulsi

Tulsi which is known for its anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties should be consumed every day to boost immunity. It is better to consume tulsi on an empty stomach. You can have 4-5 tulsi leaves with 1 tablespoon honey to boost immunity.

Berries

Foods rich in resveratrol like pistachios, peanuts, grapes, red, white wine, blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, and even cocoa & dark chocolate are helpful in fighting against fungal infection, ultraviolet radiation, stress & injury. They also protect your body against viral attacks.

Garlic

Garlic

Garlic is a very powerful anti-viral ingredient, which can be consumed raw, crushed or can be added to salads and soups. You can also mix finely chopped raw garlic & cloves with a tablespoon of honey and drink it on alternate days. It is a great way to boost your immune system.

Star anise

Star anise contains shikimic acid which is used as a base material for the production of Tamiflu that is used for influenza virus. It is very powerful as an anti-viral. Just take star anise, boil it in water & add it to your normal teas. Drink it twice a day.

Coconut oil

Instead of using other types of oil you must use pure cold-pressed coconut oil. Coconut oil contains lauric acid & caprylic in it that are necessary for boosting the immune system against infections.

Ginger

Ginger is another ingredient that can keep you safe from virus and infections. Ginger contains anti-viral properties, which when mixed with honey and star anise can help control the side effects. This mixture can be consumed 3 to 4 times a day.

Vitamin C foods

Oranges, papaya, amla, guava, red peppers and yellow peppers are rich in vitamin C and have anti-oxidant as well as immunity-boosting properties. Hence you must consume them daily for better results.

Turmeric Milk

Health experts also recommend to increase the intake of turmeric in your diet. You can have haldi doodh/golden milk once in day, preferable at night. 

Besides all this, you must maintain social distancing, wear mask, sanitize your hands frequently to prevent yourself from this deadly virus.
