So far, studies into the potency of chamomile tea have yielded promising results. However, studies differ, with some demonstrating obvious benefits over alternative therapies and others only suggesting them. Chamomile tea is safe to attempt as an addition to other treatments for most individuals, but it should not be used in place of mainstream medical treatment for serious conditions.

Health benefits of Chamomile tea

Let us take a look at some of its health benefits.

Eases Menstrual Pain

Chamomile tea has been associated with somewhat reducing severe menstrual cramps in several studies. For example, a 2010 study indicated that drinking chamomile tea for 30 days reduced the pain of period cramps. Period discomfort was also related to reduced anxiety and distress among the women in the study.

Prevents Osteoporosis

The gradual loss of bone density is known as osteoporosis. Broken bones and stooping posture are more likely a consequence of this loss. Osteoporosis can affect anyone, but it is particularly observed in postmenopausal women. This inclination could be linked to estrogen's actions.

Chamomile tea was discovered to have anti-estrogenic properties in a 2004 study. It also improved bone density, though the authors of the study advise that more research is needed to confirm this potential advantage.

Reduces Inflammation

The immune system response to infection is inflammation. Chemical ingredients in chamomile tea may help to decrease inflammation. Long-term inflammation, on the other hand, has been related to a variety of health issues, including hemorrhoids, gastrointestinal pain, arthritis, autoimmune illnesses, and even depression.

Helps You Sleep and Relax

Chamomile tea is widely believed to aid with relaxation and sleep. However, just a few clinical investigations have looked into this. According to one analysis of the present research, chamomile tea caused 10 of 12 cardiovascular patients to fall asleep quickly after drinking it. A few other research using clinical models have found that chamomile tea can help people relax.

Maintains Blood-Sugar Levels in Diabetic Patients

Again, some studies have found that chamomile tea can lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Research does not show that chamomile is a viable substitute for diabetes medications, but it may be a helpful supplement to existing treatments.

Different chamomile teas have different potencies, with some containing much more chamomile than others. The stronger the tea, the more likely it is to trigger negative effects in those who are sensitive to it. As a result, it's best to start with a small dose and gradually increase it.
