The papaya plant is notable for the high content of latex, secreted lactiferous cells founded in the plant's tissues. It is a herbaceous plant with small, bushy tree with a hollow trunk and had large palmate leaves and is deliciously sweet with musky undertones and soft butter like consistency. The crude papain is also collected from the unripe papaya and has many industrial uses with numerous protein-digesting properties.
