Lemongrass

If black tea is not your cup of tea, don’t worry. Here is an easy tea recipe that uses milk, lemongrass, and ginger. Most Indians prefer tea with milk. So, the recipe is for all you milk tea lovers.

Adding lemongrass to your regular tea can make it an immunity booster drink. Ginger, too, boosts immunity. Lemongrass and ginger together can make for a powerful tea to keep the viruses and bacteria at bay in all seasons.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups water

  • 2 Cups milk

  • Sugar or jaggery (gud)

  • Your regular tea leaves

  • A piece of grated ginger

  • Chopped lemongrass

Method:

  • Place water in your tea pan and let it boil.

  • Throw in grated ginger and chopped lemongrass in it. Let it brew for 5 minutes.

  • Add your regular tea leaves. If you are using sugar, you can add it now. Let it brew for a minute.

  • Add milk. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Bask in the fresh aroma of brewing tea that spreads in the air!

  • If you are using jaggery, add it after a minute of adding milk.

  • Strain the tea into cups.

  • Discard leftover lemongrass and tea mixture.

  • Serve hot.

Lemongrass tea without milk

Those who love black and green teas will also like lemongrass tea (without milk). The process is the same, except that you don’t add milk. You can add sugar or jaggery or, if you prefer, honey, for taste. Or you can have it unsweetened too.

Hot Tip:

Squeeze in a few drops of fresh lemon juice in the cup that you are using for tea. Strain the black lemongrass tea in this cup. Stir.

Adding lemon drops to the tea gives it a “lemony” tinge which tastes great. Have a sip!
