Republic Day is observed on January 26 all over India, and this year India will observe its 72nd Republic Day to mark the day our nation became free from the colonial rule of the British, an independent republic after over 200 years. On August 14, 1947, although India gained independence, it was just 3 years later that India's Constitution came into force which is why we celebrate the Republic day as gratitude towards the day when our great leaders gifted our nation the Constitution. 

Republic Day is observed in India with a lot of enthusiasm, and while one might not be able to go out as often because of the coronavirus and participate in celebrations, these tricolor recipes will definitely bring some color to your Republic Day.  

Delicious and easy Tricolour recipes: 

Tiranga Rice (Recipe by Pyaar Ka Tadka - Mamta Gupta) 

The dish is made with three different colored rice, and colored with natural ingredients; this recipe is fast and suitable for any curry with a light accompaniment. 

White Rice Ingredients: 1 Tej Patta,1/2 Teaspoon Kali Mirch, 1 Teaspoon Jeera, 1 Grated Paneer Cup, 1/2 Teaspoon Salt, 1 Star Anise ,1 Clove, Boiled Rice 

Orange Rice Ingredients: 1 Bay Leaf, 4 Clove, Boiled rice ,1 Teaspoon Salt,1/2 Teaspoon Laal Mirch,1 Tablespoon Chilli Sauce,1/2 Teaspoon Jeera,1 Cup Orange Carrot, Tomato Puree ,1.5 Tablespoon Chilli Sauce 

For Green Rice: 1 Bay Leaf, 4 Clove,1 Cup Palak Puree,1 Teaspoon Jeera, 1⁄2 Cup Boiled Peas, 1/2 Teaspoon Kali Mirch,1 Tablespoon Mint Chutney, 1 Teaspoon Salt.  

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Separately cook all three different colored rice

  • Then stack them horizontally so that it resembles the Indian Flag,

  • Put star anise in the center of the white layer as the symbol for Ashoka Chakra

Tiranga Sandwich (Recipe by Hebbar's Kitchen) 

This dish is just the right food for both children and adults. 

INGREDIENTS: 

Three slices of white bread or whole meal bread. 1 tsp of green chutney, some salad leaves, 1 slice of cheese, 1⁄2 tsp of crushed / dried pepper, 1 TL sauce with mayonnaise, 1 grated carrot, Salt 

INSTRUCTIONS: 

  • Firstly, cut the 3 white or wholemeal bread sides. Use the sides by just grinding into fine powder to prepare breadcrumbs. 

  • Use generous amounts of green chutney on one bread slice.

  • For a green cover, layer it with lettuce leaves. Likewise, for green layers, use sliced cucumbers.

  • Add a cheese slice and crushed black pepper.

  • In addition, to obtain a white layer, put another slice of bread.

  • Evenly spread the mayonnaise sauce. Alternatively, if necessary, use butter.

  • Add the orange layer of grated carrot.

  • Season with some salt and some crushed black pepper as well.

  • Place and softly press the third bread slice.

  • Break the sandwich into a half-shaped triangle.

  • Finally, in the snack box, serve tiranga sandwich or three-layered sandwich to kids.
