Using chemical fertilizers and crop care chemicals has affected soil fertility, raised toxicity build-up, and led to declining or stagnant production over the last two decades.

High concentration of nitrates, ammonium, and free sugar in the plants due to excessive chemical nutrients like Urea & DAP is making the crops more vulnerable to pest and diseases.

The bio-farming/ organic farming has been able to demonstrate the elimination of chemical fertilizers and experienced a substantial reduction in infestation of harmful pathogens and pest attacks in the crops. 40 years of observations in organic farms have shown that disease and pest infestations have been substantially lower.

The new generation of bio-fertilizer formulations can make the soils soft and porous, improving aeration and moisture retention along with boosting the friendly biology population.

Soil Borne disease protection

  • Mechanized tilling has resulted in the loss of organic matter and reduced biology in most soils around the world. The excessive application of chemicals has further damaged biodiversity and soil fertility. For good crop response and fertility, it is critical to have 3:1 fungal to bacteria biomass.

  • Indian farmers do not follow the scientific bio-digestion techniques using the pits but leave it on the surface as a heap. This results in incomplete digestion and also leads to white grub & weed issues in the soils. Only 100 million tons of effective farm yard manure is available against the requirement of 700 million tons for organic farming.

  • Zydex has introduced new technological advancements in the bio-digestion process which allows simple, faster, and efficient surface bio-digestion of animal dung and crop residue.

  • 2 Kg of Zytonic Godhan dissolved in 200 Lit of water to be drenched on 1 MT of semi-dried partially digested animal manure and undigested fodder/ farm residues. The pile is covered and allowed to compost for 45-60 days.

  • This helps in complete bio-digestion to minimize the issues of weed seeds and white grubs (an outcome of incomplete digestion of dung & crop residue). This helps in reducing soil-borne diseases in the crop.

Crop canopy bio-protection

  • Harmful chemicals have a kill mechanism, a protracted residual life cycle in the environment and soil, and are harmful to human health. Due to this, bio-farming now strongly emphasizes adopting methods and tools that repel rather than eradicate dangerous pests.

  • The kill mechanism has allowed the harmful insect species to evolve and change at a genetic level to become resistant to these chemicals and create a more significant threat to the crops as well as the environment. In addition, this also kills beneficial insects preying on harmful insects, thus creating an ecological imbalance.

  • Indian exports of food products are facing rejections and bans in key markets on grounds of lack of compliance with food safety and health standards, so it is more important to start looking at alternative protection technologies that are bio-based and effective.

  • Zydex has developed a new technology utilizing crop-friendly bacterial and fungal species with a new generation of stickers and control agents. This combination works as a protective shield creating a bio-layer of helpful fungi and bacteria. The reduction in pest & disease infestation is almost to the extent of 90%.

  • Zydex is also making natural pest repellents like Neem more effective through nano-technology, helps in reducing pest damage on crops and allowing beneficial insects to maintain ecological balance.

Sustainable agriculture will need efficient use of animal population and a new generation of biological technology (fertilizers and pesticides), management of micronutrients, and eco-friendly chemicals for higher nutritional content at a lower cost. This will also ensure safe and healthy food for all. Bio-farming through Zydex technology platform will also enhance the soil's organic content resulting in carbon sequestration with improved soil fertility and ecology. Bio-protection is one of the new tools which will be an integral part of this development.
