Amul Whole Wheat Atta Receives Organic Certification By SGS
Organic certification is a process certification that entails a set of production standards for organic product growing, storage, processing, packaging, and shipping. The certification process entails an independent evaluation of the processes, premises, and production methods to ensure regulatory compliance with organic certification standards.
SGS has awarded Organic Certification to Whole Wheat Atta introduced by Amul, a cooperative brand managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), as organic. This certificate confirms the milk cooperative's adherence to organic production standards.
In addition to the GCMMF certification, SGS has certified Kaira District Milk Producers Union, which is Amul's processing plant. This certificate demonstrates compliance with organic production requirements and validates the organic claim for GCMMF's agricultural products marketed under the brand name Amul. In addition to the certification granted to GCMMF, SGS has also certified Kaira District Milk Producers Union Limited, Amul's processing plant.

By responding to the strong consumer demand for genuine, organically produced foods, an Organic certification increases the brand value and marketability of organic products. The certification facilitates the export of unprocessed products to the EU and Switzerland, in addition to improving saleability and providing entry into new niches in domestic markets.
This certification is a quick and efficient programme that ensures the organic integrity of products and the use of sustainable practices that protect natural resources and biodiversity.
Organic Certification Standards Include:
-
Avoidance of synthetic chemical inputs (such as fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, and food additives), irradiation, and sewage sludge use.
-
Genetically modified seeds should be avoided.
-
Farmland that has been free of prohibited chemical inputs for several years is used (often three or more).
-
Maintaining a detailed written record of production and sales is known as an audit trail.
-
Organic products must be physically separated from non-certified products in a strict and controlled manner.
-
Undergoing periodic on-site inspections.
Organic certification is essential for environmental protection and producing residue-free and safe food products. It proves the authenticity of 'organic' product claims and increases customer trust in the brand.
