Bayer has joined hands with AgroStar to carry out home delivery of seeds and crop protection products to the farmers. The Pune-based e-commerce firm AgroStar has marked its presence in the farm input sector in the past few years.

AgroStar’s digital agri-tech platform will allow the farmers in North, West, and Central India to order Bayer’s seeds and crop protection products and will be able to receive agronomic advisory for their crop lifecycle. Shortly, Bayer will be expanding the home delivery option for the other parts of the country too.

As many agri-input shops are remaining shut, AgroStar is taking care of the orders with the help of a strong network of more than 500 last-mile delivery partners, who are helping them with the doorstep delivery of agri-inputs. Approximately 15,000 farmers are being benefitted from this service. Farmers are avoiding going out to buy agri-inputs for the Kharif season, as told by Bayer.

Elaborating about the partnership, the Chief Operating Officer for Bayer India’s Crop Science Division, Simon Wiebusch, says, “We are happy to partner with AgroStar and serve farmers during the current difficult situation and even beyond. The Go-to-Market approaches in the Indian agri-input industry have been static over the last five decades. With the rise of digitalization, the industry will witness very dynamic shifts over the next few years.”

“With the increasing incidence of online e-commerce platforms, the trend is fast catching up in the agricultural space and is here to stay. We want to provide farmers diverse choices beyond the traditional services they rely on and create a more customer-centric experience,” added Weibusch.

According to Shardul Sheth, CEO and Co-Founder of AgroStar, with good quality agri-inputs and our digital agronomy solutions, there is a potential to significantly increase farm productivity and farmer incomes.
