Propaquizafop controls weeds at all stages of development as a selective & systemic herbicide

Propaquizafop is a herbicide that is used to control a variety of annual and perennial grasses in broadleaf crops such as soybean, cotton, pulses, sunflower, other field crops, vegetables, fruit trees, vineyards, sugarbeet, oilseed rape, and forestry.

It controls weeds at all stages of development as a selective and systemic herbicide. Environmentally friendly and non-hazardous to beneficial insects and mammals Propaquizafop is rapidly absorbed by the leaves and translocated from the foliage to the growing points of the sprayed weeds' leaves and roots.

"BAL has kept the ball of innovation and progress rolling this year and it is all because of our unwavering focus on research & development. Axeman, Ronfen (patented ternary insecticide), Reveal Tombo, and Warden are among the five new products introduced. By launching Citigen and Vistara, BAL also became the first Indian agrochemical company to manufacture CTPR (a market worth more than Rs 2800 crore) technology in-house. "We also received a patent for the first-of-its-kind fungicidal composition of Cyazofamid, Dimethomorph, and Difenoconazole (Market Size Rs 350 crore) and registration for Pyroxasulfone technical indigenous manufacturing (Market Size Rs 450 crore)," said Vimal Alawadhi, MD BAL.

"Propaquizafop herbicide is critical for the Indian agricultural community because it effectively controls weeds in a variety of broad-leaf crops. Propaquizafop Technical, with a market size of Rs 350 Cr. in India, is an important addition to the above list of registrations with a large market size that BAL received this year, and we will focus on maximising this opportunity.”

“Aside from reducing our reliance on Propaquizafop Technical imports, we will concentrate on developing new Propaquizafop combination products through research and development and patenting them. Because Propaquizafop is also popular in the global herbicide market, we will certainly look forward to its export aspect in the future," he added in response to this new development.

BAL is a research-based organisation that serves the farming community by introducing world-class and cost-effective farm solutions in the form of novel agrochemical formulations. BAL currently has a technicals and formulation manufacturing capacity of 7,000 MTPA and 30,000 MTPA, respectively, through three of its manufacturing plants in Gajraula, Greater Noida, and Jammu & Kashmir.

It has over 5200 distributors in India and an unrivalled portfolio of 360+ formulations and over 80 technical manufacturing licences. On the BSE, the company recently moved from Group B to Group A.
