On Friday, India's top bio-innovation hub, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), inked an MoU with the Centre for Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) to stimulate agricultural innovation.

The new agreement will complement C-CAMP's ongoing initiatives in the agritech and related space.

The partnership will kick off a collaborative effort to foster deep-science innovations in agriculture, food science, and related sectors in order to help India's agriculture sector achieve sustainability and food security.

At the third edition of TechBharat Conclave in Mysore, Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director, C-CAMP, and Sridevi Annapurna Singh, Director, CFTRI, signed the MoU in the presence of Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science and Technology, and Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare.

"The agreement will find and nurture agricultural innovations and entrepreneurship guided by the twin pillars of deep science and sustainability," stated Taslimarif Saiyed, C-CEO CAMP's and Director.

Both Organizations Have Contributed Immensely to Agriculture

Both organizations have made significant contributions to the growth of Agritech and agri-entrepreneurship in India, and the Ministers praised this effort to bring ecosystems together for greater impact.

The new agreement will complement C-CAMP's present agritech and related initiatives, which are being carried out in conjunction with the Karnataka government through its recently formed Centre of Excellence for Agri Innovation. It will also help the CSIR-affiliated CFTRI develop science-based entrepreneurship.

Over the last five years, C-CAMP has directly funded, nurtured, and supervised over 300 start-ups in the fields such as healthcare, agriculture, and the environment.

It also has a network of over 2000 startups and entrepreneurs all around the country.  The CFTRI has developed nearly 400 technologies till now.
