CEAT Opens a New Tyre Factory in Tamil Nadu

A leading tyre-manufacturer, CEAT Tyre launches its 163-acre Greenfield plant in Kanchipuram near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The plant is set up in association with Apollo Tyres, Michelin, TVS Tyres and others in manufacturing from Tamil Nadu.

A leading tyre-manufacturer, CEAT Tyre launches its 163-acre Greenfield plant in Kanchipuram near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The plant is set up in association with Apollo Tyres, Michelin, TVS Tyres and others in manufacturing from Tamil Nadu. CEAT has an ambitious plan of investing Rs 4,000 crore in the factory over the next 10 years. 

The factory has the capacity to roll out 28,500 passenger car radial tyres and 2,500 motorcycle radial tyres a day. The company has made an investment of Rs 1,400 crore, which will also offer jobs to over 1000 people in the next few years, as per sources. 

On this occasion, Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami comments, "We are delighted that CEAT and the RPG Group have decided to launch their manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. CEAT's factory will be a jewel in the crown of Tamil Nadu. Certainly, this will bring many new job opportunities.” 

Tamil Nadu is considered to be India's largest tyre manufacturing state and this launch has added yet another feather in the cap. The plant has been commissioned within 18 months of signing the MoU.
