Coromandel Set to Take Technology Leap in Agriculture
Coromandel has been conducting extensive field studies on product efficacy, biosafety and toxicity for Nano DAP in different agro-climatic zones with leading agricultural universities and the trial results have been encouraging.
Coromandel, a renowned Indian agri solutions provider, is continuing to make deliberate efforts to drive agricultural productivity by pushing an integrated farm management strategy. The Company has successfully created a nanotechnology-based fertiliser, Nano DAP, from its R&D centre at IIT Bombay, providing a significant boost to driving sustainable agricultural practises.
Coromandel has been conducting comprehensive field studies with top agricultural institutions on product performance, biosafety, and toxicity for Nano DAP in various agro-climatic zones, and the trial results have been favourable. The Company's application to the Government of India for the commercial release of Nano DAP is nearing completion.
Coromandel will be among the first to create nanotechnology-based solutions, and the company has filed a patent for the product. The business expects to commercialise the product in 2023 after establishing a greenfield facility in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the event, Coromandel's Executive Vice Chairman Arun Alagappan remarked "Coromandel is encouraging innovative technologies for boosting the resource use efficiency of its agro solutions. Nano DAP will contribute significantly to the sustainability of Indian farms by boosting nutrient absorption, cutting water usage, and minimising environmental losses.
This is aligned with the government's emphasis on increasing farm productivity by embracing developing agricultural technology solutions. The use of Nano DAP improves agricultural economics and can encourage sustainable consumption and site-specific nutrient treatments. The company has also recently invested in the drone start-up Dhaksha Unmanned Systems, which provides them with a powerful distribution platform to promote the use of Nano fertilisers through drones.
“I would like to thank the Government for its continuous guidance, extending policy and regulatory support and providing the requisite impetus for the adoption of new technologies in farming. I am optimistic that the usage of Nano fertilisers will support the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision and can drive the next wave of Green Revolution in the country.”
