Good News: Solar Powered Water Pump Launched for Farming Sector

Stanley Black & Decker has launched Stanley Earth which is an energy efficient, solar-powered water pump for the farming sector. The aim of the company is to leverage its core technology expertise to address unmet societal needs, like critical sustainable development challenges such as water, energy, and climate.

Ramana Gogula Vice-president of Clean Technology Innovation at Stanley Black & Decker said, “Nearly two years ago, we set out on a mission to deliver a self-sustaining irrigation solution that can provide millions of farmers in India, a solution to one of their key challenges reliable and consistent access to clean water.”

He added, "It is the first of many products to come." Interestingly, Stanley Black & Decker is the latest company to reshore manufacturing. Recently, the company announced the first new manufacturing facility in many years, will be built in Fort Worth, TX, a 425,000-square-foot plant that will bring 500 new jobs to the region. According to Stanley Black & Decker CEO Jim Loree, “We’re demonstrating our continued commitment to grow the brand and bring even more production of these great products back to the United States.”

He added, “This new plant will be the latest in our network of manufacturing facilities, one that uses state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and demonstrates our commitment to becoming one of the world’s leaders in advanced manufacturing.”

Presently, Stanley Black & Decker operates 30 manufacturing facilities in the United States, with over 100 manufacturing facilities globally. The company has five locations that have started implementing Industry 4.0 technologies, from manufacturing execution systems and 3D printing to virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Earlier, Stanley Black & Decker also opened a new 23,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence, called “Manufactory 4.0”, in Hartford, CT, as the focal point of the company’s global Industry 4.0 “smart factory” initiative.
