HDFC Bank, one of the most valuable Indian banks for Indian lenders, celebrated its 25-year anniversary on Tuesday. Aditya Puri,  Managing Director, and Chief Executive has built the brand from the very beginning and thought of observing the company's silver jubilee in quite a different and unique way.

The bank marked the celebrations by committing to plant 25 lakh trees and also digitize 2,500 classrooms. On the anniversary day, Puri planted a guava tree at a municipal school in Central Mumbai.

In a statement given to media, Puri said, " There are no alternatives to a clean environment and smart classrooms. Both are an absolute necessity for our nation to become the global force we all want it to be."

The company's market cap on the day of the anniversary was recorded at Rs 6.64 lakh crore as against SBI's 2.83 lakh crore. Aditya Puri has always been there for the employees and has built a culture that has zero tolerance for any leniency and has made sure that the company stayed out of any asset related troubles. Puri is about to retire in October this year.
