Indo-American Hybrid Seeds (India) Private Limited (IAHS) is a nearly six-decade-old, leading Indian seed company with a strong global presence in the research, development, production, and marketing of high-quality hybrid seeds for agriculture and horticulture.

 

Founded in 1965 in Bengaluru by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Manmohan Attavar, IAHS was established with a clear vision: to enhance farmers’ incomes, improve agricultural productivity, and contribute to India’s food security.

 

Over the years, IAHS has emerged as a pioneer in developing high-yielding, disease-tolerant, and climate-resilient hybrid seeds across vegetables, field crops, flowers, and ornamental plants. Its Research & Development division has been honored twice (1995 and 2000) with

National Awards for innovation by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India — a recognition of the company’s sustained scientific excellence.

The company operates a state-of-the-art biotechnology laboratory equipped for DNA fingerprinting, hybrid seed purity testing using DNA based markers, and comprehensive seed health analysis. In addition, IAHS runs a commercial tissue culture facility that produces disease-free planting material for ornamental, fruit, and plantation crops, ensuring quality and uniformity at the field level.

 

IAHS maintains a robust seed production and processing infrastructure comprising companyowned greenhouses and farms, over 10 hectares of poly and net house facilities, and a nationwide network of more than 1,500 trained contract growers. Modern seed processing units in Ranebennur and Hyderabad, supported by temperature-controlled storage systems, operate under a comprehensive seed quality management framework aligned with international standards.

Today, the IAHS brand is synonymous with quality, reliability, and trust in both domestic and international markets. IAHS has played a significant role in positioning Indian seed technology on the global stage.

 

The company exports to 24 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. IAHS is currently led by Mr. Santosh Attavar, Chairman & Managing Director, who also serves as President of the International Seed Federation (ISF).
