Kan Biosys & DE SANGOSSE Announce Strategic Alliance to Advance Biotechnology
Kan Biosys, an established player in microbial technologies in India, has formed a strategic agreement with DE SANGOSSE to construct a robust microbial and bio-solutions ecosystem in India. DE SANGOSSE, established in France, is a global player in crop protection, plant nutrition, and pest management.
Climate change is wreaking havoc on the global agriculture economy, resulting in lower crop yields and lower earnings for farmers who must spend more to achieve past harvests. Climate-resilient technologies are critical for minimising these difficulties and equipping farmers to deal with reduced harvests.
Improving soil health with carbon, microbial products, and bio-solutions is central to achieving a sustainable future, with microbes acting as a buffer between plants and the environment, allowing them to withstand various challenges such as drought, flooding, salinity, low and high temperature.
Kan Biosys has operations in seven states and exports to seven countries. The company's DNA is centred on innovation, as seen by its track record of accomplishments. Kan Biosys began its adventure by gaining the first Indian patent for liquid biofertilizers for nitrogen-fixing bacteria, which was recognised with the first Technology Day award and a United Nations World Intellectual Property Organisation gold medal.
Since then, the company has collaborated with over a million farmers in India and established a reputation as an industry leader, with numerous firsts to its credit, including Milastin (the first registered bio-fungicide based on Bacillus subtilis KTSB 1015 was registered for control of powdery mildew in grapes).
Sandeepa Kanitkar, Chairperson and Managing Director of Kan Biosys, commented on the strategic collaboration, saying, "We are thrilled to be part of a time when microbial products are gaining momentum, and we are proud to be associated with DE SANGOSSE, which shares our vision and strengths." We think that every seed needs microbial dressing, every pest needs biocontrol, and all soils require carbon and microorganisms to be fertile.
As a result, the potential in this industry are enormous, and our collaboration can considerably benefit the bio-market. Microbials have an important role in seeding, soil fertility, nitrogen management, and pest and disease control. We are confident that in the coming years, we will undoubtedly establish that microbiological is a formidable force to be reckoned with."
ASMM Corporate Advisors and Spayne Lindsay & Co acted as exclusive financial advisors to Kan Biosys and De Sangosse, respectively, on this transaction.
"With over 160 million arable hectares, India represents a significant market for our group," stated Nicolas Fillon, CEO of DE SANGOSSE. “Both companies will collaborate to develop innovative solutions that assist global agricultural trends and Indian farmers by leveraging their research capabilities. By building synergies between DE SANGOSSE and Kan Biosys, we hope to deliver creative and sustainable agricultural solutions that will benefit our customers in the Indian market. We are thrilled to work with an experienced and devoted team to help Kan Biosys grow its business. We feel Kan Biosys' high-quality microbial product portfolio and solid presence in India will benefit our global initiatives."
