Mahindra & Mahindra Inaugurates its 1st Greenfield Farm Machinery Plant in Pithampur, MP
Mahindra and Mahindra, one of India's largest tractor manufacturers, inaugurated the Greenfield Farm Machinery Plant today.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today inaugurated the first Greenfield Farm Machinery Plant of Mahindra & Mahindra at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, Tomar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today India has reached a point where the world looks at us with hopeful eyes.
This New Farm Machinery Division of Mahindra & Mahindra is set up in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Spread over an area of 23 acres is the biggest facility for farm equipment outside Punjab. The plant will help Indian farmers towards mechanizing the farming process and will also farmers realize their dreams.
It will also manufacture products for export to global markets in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. Through its well-planned lay-out, the new plant is capable of rolling out a series of new products designed at Mahindra’s global technology Centres of Excellence in Finland, Japan, and Turkey.
While inaugurating the plant, Tomar told media that mechanization and technology are very much needed today. The population of the country and the world is rising continuously, and the challenge of climate change is also in front of us. We not only have to increase our production-productivity but also supply to domestic as well as other countries as a service to humanity, for which a lot more efforts are required.
The Union Minister said that the trend of testing quality is increasing today. The credibility of branding and quality is increasing in the country and the world. From the point of view of agricultural equipment, this is the first innovative experiment done by Mahindra & Mahindra. This company has also set the target of export of farm equipment. Tomar said that today the need is that India emerges as the world leader. By supplying to the world apart from meeting the domestic demand, India will develop and its reputation as a world guru will also be secured.
He went on to say that Swami Vivekananda had said that the 21st Century would belong to India, and we should also make our own contribution to prove it. He expressed happiness that even after getting a higher education and a good job abroad, many youths have come back to India and have been attracted to agriculture.
Hemant Sikka, President, of Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, talking to media said, “Mahindra has been the leader in the Tractorisation of India for many decades and is now determined to be a leader in the mechanization of farming." The company now aims to expand its farm machinery business by 10x in 5 years, he added.
