PHDCCI Summit on Cooperatives Sets the Stage for Viksit Bharat's Renaissance: 54 New Initiatives Unveiled for Economic Empowerment

PHDCCI on Thursday organized the "Summit on Cooperatives: Building the Foundation of Viksit Bharat through 54 New Initiatives of MoC at PHD House, New Delhi.

The summit commenced with Mr. R P Singh, Director (HR & Legal) at IFFCO and Co-Chair of the Task Force on Cooperatives at PHDCCI, providing insightful perspectives on the evolving dynamics of industries embracing cooperation. He underscored the deep-rooted connection of cooperative principles with India's ethos, emphasizing the historical existence of societies supporting various workers. Aligning with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas,' he highlighted that cooperatives epitomize a consumer-centric economic model. Mr. Singh shared staggering figures from Maharashtra alone, where cooperative initiatives boast a work value exceeding 5 thousand crores.

Smt. Savitri Singh, Deputy CEO of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), emphasized the transformative strength of cooperatives as a business model that not only empowers individuals economically but also fosters social empowerment. She highlighted the wide-reaching impact of cooperatives, covering 95% of the country and providing employment and livelihood opportunities in remote areas. Stressing the role of cooperatives in contributing to Viksit Bharat, she called for collaborative efforts across various levels and contributions from diverse stakeholders.

Shri Vinay Chauhan, Chairman of the National Federation of Labour Cooperatives Ltd., expressed gratitude for the government's initiatives and efforts in supporting cooperatives. He applauded the government's 54 initiatives and advocated for a hands-free approach for cooperative societies. Recognizing the focus of labor cooperatives in protecting workers from exploitation, he acknowledged the pivotal role cooperatives play in ensuring fair treatment for workers.

CMA Navneet Kumar Jain, Chairman of the Cooperative Development Board at ICMAI, emphasized the indispensable role of cooperatives in setting the tone for India's progress. He called for organizational focus to ensure the success of cooperatives and stressed their significance in the economic landscape.

Vineet Nahata, Chair of the Task Force on Cooperatives at PHDCCI, brought attention to the key strength of cooperatives in empowering individuals and communities. Emphasizing the role of technology in shaping this movement, he urged a deeper exploration and utilization of technological advancements. Nahata also expressed hope for stronger collaboration between government initiatives and cooperative endeavors.

Dr. Jatinder Singh, Assistant Secretary General at PHDCCI, moderated the summit, while Shri Rupesh Pandey, Sr. Secretary at PHDCCI, facilitated the technical sessions.

The summit reached its pinnacle with the release of the research report titled, "Building the Foundation of Viksit Bharat," marking a significant contribution to the discourse on cooperative development.
