Prabhat Dairy enters into Animal Nutrition Business with Denmark-based DLG

Prabhat Dairy, a company that focuses on milk and dairy products, is entering the animal nutrition business that includes cattle feed, nutrition supplements and animal genetics, together with the Denmark-based DLG which is into high-quality feeds for the farm animals.

Prabhat Dairy, a company that focuses on milk and dairy products, is entering the animal nutrition business that includes cattle feed, nutrition supplements and animal genetics, together with the Denmark-based DLG which is into high-quality feeds for the farm animals.

The Maharashtra-based company already provides cattle feed under its brand Annapurna to the dairy farmers.

Now the company is set to start a separate animal nutrition business to create a strong presence in the flourishing animal nutrition market.  For this, Prabhat Dairy has inked a joint development agreement with the DLG to drive its diversification. 

In a statement the company said, "Under this accord, 2 products which have already been developed in Denmark, will be send to India for a pilot test. One of the two products is for ‘milking cows’ and the other is for ‘dry cows’. Further it will be given to 150 selected farms to administer on 1000 cows for improvement of health and increased milk productivity and quality”.

The company told that the pilot phase will be for 4 to 6 months, after which the commercial launch will be planned.

Joint Managing Director of Prabhat Dairy, Vivek Nirmal said, "The animal feed industry is expected to be worth USD 30 billion by 2020. The sector primarily comprises cattle feed and poultry feed and to tap this potential we are foraying into animal nutrition business".
