Along with the cultivation, carrots are also consumed all over India. It is used in salads, vegetables, and most of all in “Gajar ka Halwa”. There is still a belief in the minds of many people that red carrots can be grown only in the cold season.

With the help of science and agricultural scientists, now we can enjoy almost every crop in every season. Although some credit also goes to cold storage.

Many companies develop seeds of not only carrots but also other fruits, flowers, vegetables, and grains so that people can get their benefits in every season. Recently a new variety of carrots has been launched by Somani Seeds. This new hybrid variety has been launched under the name of the Red Queen variety.

Characteristics of “Red Queen Variety” of Carrot:

The Red Queen variety has been launched by Somani Seeds on 22nd June. It is an alternative to the English variety, Nantes carrot, which is less sweet and orange in color.

The red-queen carrot has the longest shelf life with the maximum TSS, it was sown in the mid-winter stage. It took 134 days to prepare this variety, after which the roots of the carrot were excavated after digging it.

It has excellent root length, maturity, color, and sweetness, which is not commonly seen in any other hybrid/native carrot. It is worth mentioning that it is unique among the other varieties of carrots developed by any company in India.

To find out the qualities, characteristics, and shelf-life of the Red Queen Carrot, it was kept in cold storage on 20 April and when it was taken out and tested on 22 June, it was found to be true in all its parameters.

It was inspected by 2 scientists, 20 farmers, and 15 Aramis. The findings indicated that this variety can be sold at higher prices since the demand for red carrots is high.

Under the instructions of Kamal Somani, Senior Scientist and Chief Manager of Somani Seeds, it was put back in cold storage for the next 2 months, so that it can be found that the Red Queen Carrot of Somani Seeds can be stored cold storage for one season i.e., 6 months.

Kamal Somani Ji told the journalist of Krishi Jagran that we are not only hopeful but have firm faith that it will live up to the expectations of farmers and customers.
