TATA Group Makes Another Contribution of Rs 500 Crores to PM Cares Fund

After already making a contribution of Rs 1000 crores to the PM Cares Fund, Tata Group has announced another offering to the funds with Rs 500 crores. Ratan Tata, the Chairman of Tata Group, broke out the news through social media platform ‘Twitter’. “The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time,” read his tweet.

Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES) is an emergency fund created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in light of the coronavirus outbreak. The fund has enabled everyone to make any kind of monetary contribution to help the government in containment and relief efforts during the rising cases of the pandemic Coronavirus/Covid-19. 

“In this exceptionally difficult period, I believe that urgent emergency resources need to be deployed to cope with the needs of fighting the COVID-19 crisis, which is one of the toughest challenges the human race will face,” added Tata. 

As per report, the amount of Rs 500 crore will be used for: 

  • Personal protective equipment for medical personnel on the frontlines 

  • Respiratory systems to treat increasing cases 

  • Testing kits to increase per capita testing 

  • Setting up modular treatment facilities for infected patients 

  • Knowledge management and training of health workers and general public
