Assam Government Launches Incentive Scheme to Encourage Production of Orthodox, Specialty Teas

Assam government announced a scheme to encourage the production of orthodox and specialty teas, which are in high demand in international markets and can help planters get better prices. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said-"The main goal of this scheme is to strike a balance between CTC tea production and orthodox tea production. In international markets, orthodox tea is in high demand. We can expand our market share if we can increase production,”

Heranba Industries gets environmental clearance for Rs 110 crore expansion plan

 Agrochemicals firm Heranba Industries received environmental clearance to set up additional manufacturing capacity at an estimated cost of Rs 110 crore at its facility in Gujarat. R K Shetty, Managing Director, Heranba, said this approval for expanding the Sarigam plant is a crucial for company's aim of expanding multipurpose manufacturing capacity achieve its growth objectives.

Bengaluru-based startup ELAI AgriTech offers free precision farming advisory to farmers

Small and marginal farmers can now look forward to free advice on precision farming based on remote sensing. ELAI AgriTech has begun offering free precision farming tips to farmers, such as weather updates, farm irrigation times, measures to combat disease and pest attacks, and nutrient management. ELAI uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to generate agricultural and crop advisory assistance based on satellite imagery and country-level input provided by farmers.

M&M reports total Tractor sales of 48,222 units in the month of June

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has reported total tractor sales of 48,222 units in the month of June, recovering from the disruptions induced by the pandemic. Hemant Sikka, President – Farm equipment sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said the sharp fall in Covid cases, arrival of timely monsoon, and increase in MSP rates for key kharif crops are a few of the factors that have given a very strong momentum to tractor demand.

NCDEX launches 2 new agri commodity indices

National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange launches two indices in agri-commodities basket  namely  NCDEX GUAREX and NCDEX SOYDEX., GUAREX is a return based index tracking the price movement in the futures contracts of its guar seed and guar gum refined splits on a real-time basis. Similarly, SOYDEX will follow the price changes in futures contracts of soybean and refined soy oil. Arun Raste, Managing Director, NCDEX, said this is the first return based agricultural future index in agriculture commodities.

3-day virtual global wheat seminar

A 3-day worldwide wheat seminar has begun today. The focus of the seminar is value-addition to assist in increasing income of farmers and creating employment. According to Raj Kapoor, Convenor of the wheat seminar, that is the ninth seminar that’s being held by the Wheat Products Promotion Society and  will give attention to the immense alternatives within the space of wheat merchandise corresponding to milled, baked and extruded merchandise.
