UPL Gets Environment Clearance for Rs 353 crore Pesticide Unit Expansion Project

Leading Agrochemical Company, UPL has got the environment clearance from the government for its Rs 353.43 crore pesticide unit expansion project in Gujarat's Bharuch district, as per official documents.

The documents showed that the environment ministry has given the consent to the firm for the proposed expansion project based on the inputs of a green panel. The authorization has been given with some riders that include that the company should neither produce banned pesticides or chemicals nor use any banned raw material for production of pesticides.

The planned project is for expansion of the manufacturing capacity of existing products of pesticide technical grade, intermediate products & solid or liquid formulations & also for adding new products.

UPL also plans to increase the capacity of pesticide unit from 1,520 tonne per month (TPM) to 4,720 TPM & pesticide-specific intermediate from 1,120 TPM to 2,100 TPM at Ankleshwar in Bharuch district.

Further the documents showed that the expansion that will be in the existing land area of 1.36 lakh square metres, is expected to cost Rs 353.43 crore.

The power requirement after the expansion would be met from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL).

Presently, the company has a production capacity of 6,910 TPM and has eleven manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jammu and marketing network in 133 nations.
