UPL Ltd., a global provider of sustainable agriculture products and solutions, undertook the initiative to educate farmers on techniques of sucking pest management in crops like cotton in Haryana (Sirsa). Keeping farmer’s first approach, the aim of this initiative was to educate farmers on various techniques that can be used to get rid of pests in cotton crop and generate additional income.

Pests of cotton-like Sucking pests and Pink Bollworm have caused havoc on the crop and impacted cotton yield and farmers' income. UPL’s product “ULALA”, has seen breakthrough results in managing the sucking pests of cotton and helping the farmers to produce and earn more.

The quantified benefits of “ULALA” as observed by farmers include an additional income of about Rs 4500-11000/- per acre in different crops upon using two rounds of “ULALA” against untreated control in target crops.

Additionally, as part of the relationship-building activity with the farmers and to boost their morale, the initiative also conducted a lucky draw where farmers were awarded gifts like tractors, bikes etc.

Ashish Dobhal, Regional Director, India Region, UPL Ltd., “The farmers are our primary stakeholders, and we at UPL are committed to their well-being and economic success.

Through ongoing interactions with farmers, we hope to give them the information and solutions they need to improve their financial situation. For instance, "ULALA" has helped cotton growers earn more income by getting rid of pests. The product could revolutionize pest management for a variety of crops”.

Bharat Singh, Farmer from Sirsa said, “I grow cotton on 10 acres of land and we constantly deal with pests that destroy the crop, especially Pink Ballworm and sucking pest. We are looking forward to using the information provided by UPL on sucking pest management. I am grateful to UPL for the farmer connect activity and for the gifts given to us through luck draw.”
