1st Expo Organic North East: SIMFED to Organize India’s Biggest Trade Fair on Organic

Realizing the potential of organic farming in the country's North Eastern region to connect growers with consumers and to support the development of the entire value chain for the promotion of organic products globally, this edition is known as Expo One International Trade Fair for Organic Products.

The first Expo on Organic North East is scheduled to take place from February 3rd to 5th, 2023; an immersive experience into the world of organic fruits and vegetables hosted by the Department of Agriculture in Assam and organised by the Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED), with Krishi Jagran as the media partner for the three-day expo.

This will include a high-quality exhibition from leading companies in naturals, organics, and exports, as well as agribusinesses, B2B meetings, B2C events, international and domestic buyer delegations, an International Conference, Farmers' Workshop, and government/department pavilions.

Highlights of Event:

  • Exhibition: Over 160 organic and natural brand booths will display a wide range of organic food and non-food products. Exhibitors include exporters, retailers, farmer groups, organic input manufacturers, government agencies, and others.

  • Pavilions of States: Pavilions of the Central and State Governments will provide farmer groups with various government schemes and marketing assistance.

  • Pavilions of Certification Agencies: Certification agency pavilions will assist farmer groups with third-party or PGS certification, fair trade, and sustainability standards.

  • Pavilion of Industries: Promote businesses through companies in food processing, packaging, testing laboratories, equipment, new technologies, and startups.

  • International Conference on: Associations/ companies across the globe will also be invited to participate.

  • Buyer-Seller Meets: Buyer-seller meetings, which are an essential part of the Fair, bring international and domestic buyers (including exporters, wholesalers, and retailers) together with suppliers and farmer groups/FPOs to conduct actual business. B2B meetings are organised to match the needs of buyers and sellers. At the venue, a dedicated Buyer Seller lounge is created.

  • International Conference: A two-day knowledge-sharing conference will be organised. It will bring in top exporters from India and around the world. 200+ delegates from various sectors, including farmers, traders/exporters, researchers, NGOs, and state and federal governments.

  • Farmers' Workshop: Special workshop sessions are being held for farmers from all over the state and country. These sessions will be conducted in Assamese, English, and Hindi. Experts will lead these sessions in organic production and value chains. Participants will benefit from understanding market trends, demand, the organic certification process, export potential, and so on, as well as the technical and commercial aspects of organic products and natural agribusiness.
