77th Independence Day 2023: Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory and Road Closures Details

Ahead of India's 77th Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive Traffic Advisory and Road Closure plan to ensure smooth execution on Independence Day.

In preparation for the 77th Independence Day celebration, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for August 15. Ahead of Independence Day 2023, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory and informed people to avoid a few roads to avoid. 

The Delhi Traffic Police shared this information via a tweet, which included a map illustrating the parade route, suggested detours, and bus drop-off points, in addition to outlining traffic limitations. As outlined in the advisory, the thoroughfares encircling Red Fort will be inaccessible to regular traffic from 4 am to 11 am on Sunday. During this period, only designated vehicles will be granted entry into the restricted zones.

  • Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail

  • Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail

  • SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk

  • Chandni Chowk road from Ring road to Netaji Subhash Marg

  • Esplanade road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg

  • Ring Road to Rajghat to ISBT

  • Outer ring road from ISBT to IP flyover i.e. Shalimar bagh bypass

The traffic advisory also reads that those vehicles which do not have parking labels for Independence Day Celebration may avoid C-Hexagon India Gate, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, Copernicus Marg, ISBT Kashmiri Gate, J.L. Nehru Marg, Ring Road, and others listed. Commercial vehicles and inter-state buses will have restricted movement, including a ban on freight vehicles and inter-state buses on certain routes during August 12 midnight to August 15, 11:00 am. City buses also have additional constraints. Informative signs will guide traffic towards Red Fort. Commuters are urged to use alternative routes during these times to prevent inconvenience.
