In the latest updates on the 7th Pay Commission, the government is expected to announce a 4 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees soon.

The announcement comes after the Union Cabinet approved a proposal to increase the DA from 18 percent to 28 percent. The DA hike will benefit approximately 50 lakh central government employees and 61 lakh pensioners. The increase in DA is expected to cost the government around Rs 34,000 crore annually.

The decision to increase DA was taken as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which had suggested revising the DA twice a year to compensate for inflation. The last DA hike was announced in July 2021, when the government increased the DA from 28 percent to 31 percent. The current announcement of the 4 percent hike in DA is expected to come into effect from January 1, 2022.

The central government employees have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the DA hike, as it will increase their salaries and help them cope with the rising cost of living. The announcement is expected to bring some relief to the employees, who have been facing financial difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government is yet to announce the exact date of the implementation of the DA hike. However, sources suggest that the announcement may be made soon, once the formalities are completed. The employees and pensioners are advised to keep a lookout for the official announcement and check with their respective departments for more information.
