7th Pay Commission Latest Update: 3% DA Hike

7th Pay Commission Salary Update: There’s good news for all the Central Government Employees! The Modi Government is planning to increase the Dearness Allowance by 3% considered effective from January 1, 2022. Also, it is expected that employees will also receive their pending arrears on or Holi 2022. Over 65 lakh pensioners will get the benefit from this.

DA Hike by 3 %

Presently the total Dearness Allowance (DA) is 31%, however, it may be increased to 34% in the future. This increase will occur after the central government increases DA by 3%, bringing it to 34%. Central government employees' Dearness Allowance (DA) is revised twice a year, between January and July. By multiplying the current rate of dearness allowance by the base wage, the DA is determined.

What Is DA?

Dearness Allowance is a stipend paid to government employees and retirees. The federal government adjusts DA and DR benefits twice a year, in January and July, to keep up with growing inflation.

Government employees, public sector employees, and retirees receive DA. It is given to employees to assist them in meeting their living expenditures.

DA Calculation:

Dearness Allowance percentage = ((Average of AICPI (Base Year 2001=100) for the past 12 months-115.76)/115.76) x 100.

According to reports, all central employees will get their full salary in March, including the DA arrears - for January and February.

A media report further clarified that Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM has said that the DA arrears of Level-1 employees varied from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Employees at Level-13 (7th CPC basic pay scale Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (pay scale) will owe Rs 1,44,200 and Rs 2,18,200 in DA arrears, respectively.
