Meanwhile, media reports suggest that the Central government employees will soon receive 18 months-pending DA arrears. It is important to mention here that the government employees since a long time have been asking to release the pending DA arrears.

The employees were not paid the DA arrears of 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

DA arrears will be given in 3 installments

Now reports from different sources say that the central government employees will be given the 18-month DA arrears in 3 installments.

For the past 2 years, the Dearness Allowance arrears issue was pending before the cabinet for consideration. If the media reports are true then the DA arrears of central government employees at Level-3 is projected to be between Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554 and for Level-13 & Level-14 officials the arrears range between Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. However, if the negotiations with the Centre works then the arrears of the employees will also change.

DA Increased by 4%

The Central government increased the Dearness Allowance of its employees by 4 percent in September. The DA was increased from 34% to 38%. Earlier, the government employees were given Dearness Allowance at 31%, which was raised to 34% in January 2022.

It is worth mentioning that the 4 percent DA hike has benefitted more than 50 lakh government employees as well as 61 lakh pensioners across India.

When will employees get next DA hike?

According to recent trends and the Central government’s decisions on DA hike, the employees are most likely to get their next DA hike in March 2023.

Reports also say that the Government is expected to increase the DA by 3 – 5%, which will be based on the 7th pay Commission’s recommendations.
