7th Pay Commission: Central Government Employees to Get Rs 90,000 in November

This Diwali will definitely be a bang for the 7th Pay Commission Employees of the Central Government. Before Diwali, the Union Cabinet had given a gift to employees by increasing their Dearness Allowance (DA) by 3%. The Dearness Allowance (DA) has been implemented from July 1.

This Diwali will definitely be a bang for the 7th Pay Commission Employees of the Central Government. Before Diwali, the Union Cabinet had given a gift to employees by increasing their Dearness Allowance (DA) by 3%. The Dearness Allowance (DA) has been implemented from July 1.  

However, the Central Government Employees & Pensioners have not received DA & DR for 18 months from 1st January 2020 to 30th June 2021. On which the Prime Minister can take a big decision by the end of this month (November). Earlier DA was increased at the rate of 28%. With the increase in Dearness Allowance from July 2021, the arrears will also be available. The Central Government employee will also get the arrears with 31% DA, Central government employees will get the benefit of an increased 31% DA from October 2021.

Last Year Employees Didn’t Get DA & DR

Last Year in April, the Finance Ministry had stopped payment of DA & DR from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, In view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to which the central government employees & the pensioners did not get DA & DR for 18 months.  

However, the government has made it clear that the arrears of these 18 months will definitely be paid. The Central Government Employees & pensioner will not be given. Rather, increased DA will be effective from July 1. According to Union Minister Anurag Thakur, the burden of Rs 9488.74 crore on the exchequer on payment of 31% DA & arrears. In January 2020, DA was increased by 4%. Then, it increased by 3% in June 2020 & 4% in January 2021. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government had banned the increase of 3 DA from January 2020 to June 2021.

31% Increase in DA

In July the government has released it simultaneously at the rate of 28%. This has been increased by 11% after which, once again on 3rd October, 3% increase in diyas was done, because of which DA has increased to 31%. 

The DA of the Central government employees has been twice a year. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000. He is currently getting Rs 5,040 as a DA. This amount is 28% of the basic salary. After DA 31%, the employees will get Rs 5,580 as DA. With the increase in basic pay, the total amount of DA will also increase. On an annual basis, the salary will increase by Rs 6480.
