7th Pay Commission: Govt. Employees to Get Big Hike in Fitment Factor in July? Basic Salary to Go Up to Rs 26,000
The federal government employees' unions have long demanded that the basic salary be increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 and that the fitment factor be increased from 2.57 to 3.68.
The current update on the 7th Pay Commission's fitment factor is as follows: The long wait for central government employees who have been clamoring for the hike in fitment factor could be over next month. According to media sources, the much-anticipated discussion on increasing the fitment factor for central government employees under the 7th Pay Commission could take place next month.
According to the Zeebiz website, a draft of the fitment factor hike will be produced and shared with the administration. After the draft is submitted, a meeting to discuss the matter is expected to take place by the end of July. When the fitment factor is increased, central government employees' salaries will rise significantly.

Salary Calculation for Hike in Fitment Factor Under 7th Pay Commission:
Employees' basic wage will increase to Rs 26,000 if the fitment ratio is increased to 3.68. According to the 2.57 fitment factor, if your minimum salary is Rs 18,000, you will receive Rs 46,260 (Rs 18,000 X 2.57 = 46,260) without allowances.
Your salary will be Rs 95,680 (26000X3.68 = 95,680) if the fitment factor is 3.68.
In June 2017, the Union Cabinet adopted the 7th Pay Commission's proposals with 34 changes. The new pay scales increased entry-level basic pay from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 per month, while the highest level of pay, Secretary, increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh.
