7th Pay Commission: New Rules on Minimum Service Required for Promotion are Out; Read Inside

The revised norms may be incorporated in the recruitment rules/service rules/by making suitable amendments

It was decided that minimum qualifying service for promotions, as per the Pay Levels in the Revised Pay Matrix, was necessary.

According to the guidelines set forward by the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix and Pay Levels, the minimum service requirements standard for promotion for employees of the Central Government has been updated.

The Department of Personnel and Training made a statement about it on September 20 (DoPT). "The recruitment rules, service rules, or other relevant adjustments may be updated to reflect the revised norms. The DoPT stated, according to a Financial Express story, "All ministries/departments are requested to implement necessary changes to the recruitment rules/service regulations after following the due procedure."

"Proposals for framing/amending recruitment regulations and service rules are currently being taken into consideration, and instructions adjusting the minimum qualifying service required for promotion as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix/Pay Levels have not yet been issued.

However, it was decided that minimum qualifying service for promotions, as per the Pay Levels in the Revised Pay Matrix, was necessary, according to the report.

What are the new changes?

An employee must have worked for the company for at least three years in order to advance from Level 1 to Level 2.

It takes 3 years to go from Level 2 to Level 3, 8 years to advance from Level 3 to Level 4, and 5 years to advance from Level 4 to Level 5.

An employee must work for the company for at least 12 years before being promoted from Level 6 to Level 12.

The time frame is 10 years for Levels 4 to 6, 6 to 10, 11 to 13, and 13 to Levels, and 9 years for Levels 4 to 11.
