Good News for Delhi government employees! Dearness Allowance hiked by 4%

The Delhi government on Friday approved a 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees, in accordance with the Central government. The Arvind Kejriwal government gave its employees a 4% raise in Dearness Allowance (DA).

According to a formal order, the financial department of the Delhi government has conveyed the information to its relevant departments and autonomous bodies, endorsing the change of rates by the Center.

The Union Cabinet increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and dearness relief by 4% beginning July 1, 2022, ahead of the Diwali holiday on September 28. In advance of the holiday season, Union Minister Anurag Thakur revealed that the government has set aside Rs 12, 852 crores for the benefit of more than 50 lakh government employees and almost 62 lakh pensioners.

Government employees' DA hike

The most recent hike raises the DA to 38% from 34%. Their income would increase by Rs 720 as a result of a 4% DA hike. For instance, if a central government employee's base pay is Rs 18,000, then 34% of that amount would be his entitlement to DA of Rs 6,120.

What is Dearness Allowance?

DA, a portion of the pay for government employees and pensioners, is meant to reduce the impact of inflation on salaries. The government updates the dearness allowance twice a year, in January and July, in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission. Whether an employee lives in an urban, semi-urban, or rural region will also affect this amount.
