Aadhaar Latest Update: UIDAI Asks Citizens to Update Their Aadhaar Cards

UIDAI said that the updating of Aadhaar cards can be done online as well as offline at various Aadhaar centers.

UIDAI has urged Aadhaar card holders to update their unique identity cards if they have not updated the details in the last 10 years The government body responsible for issuing Aadhaar Cards said in a statement that the updating can be done online as well as at Aadhaar centers.

Although UIDAI did not provide any clarity if the update is mandatory or not, it did, however, “request” people to update their documents.

"Any person who had got their Aadhaar made 10 years back and not updated the information in any of the subsequent years are being requested to do document updating," it said.

UIDAI said the updating of Aadhaar cards can be done online and at Aadhaar centers. For this, you have to pay the requisite fee. This facility can be accessed on MyAadhaar or by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center. The Aadhaar card establishes identification through the iris, fingerprint, and photographs.

Over the last 10 years, the Aadhaar number has become a source of identification for individuals. The Aadhaar number is used in different government schemes and services. To take advantage of government benefits, individuals are expected to update their Aadhaar information so as to avoid any inconveniences in identification/certification, it said.

What documents do you need to update your Aadhaar card?

To update your aadhaar card, you will need the following documents:

  • Passport/ Passport of Spouse/ Passport of Parents (in case of a minor)

  • Bank statement with bank stand and signature of bank official/ Passbook/ Post office Account Statement/ Passbook

  • Ration Card

  • Voter ID

Can you update your Aadhaar card online?

Residents can update their addresses online through the Self-Service option, where they can do it immediately on the portal. Logging onto the portal requires the resident's Aadhaar number and registered mobile number.

How many days does it take to update your Aadhaar Card?

An Update Request Number (URN), which can be used to check the progress of the Aadhaar update request, is generated following payment. It can take up to 90 days to finish the upgrade procedure. You can print your Aadhar card after the version has been updated and downloaded.

How many can Aadhaar details be changed?

Through the mAadhaar App, you can change your name (Only Minor Changes allowed, Twice), gender (Once), date of birth (Once), and address (No limit) online. Fees: Rs 50 per request; many details may be altered simultaneously. The memorandum states that gender details can only be altered once. The UIDAI Aadhaar update FAQ states that you can do a second gender update using exception handling.

Can you update the phone number in your Aadhaar card online?

The mobile number cannot be changed online.  To change the mobile number, you must go to the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
