Agri Conclave `Uzhave Thalai` on June 23rd in Coimbatore

In view of the importance of the organic farming, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore aiming to create awareness, and environment friendly farming. The programme would be based on five important topics like soil health, water conservation, pest management and disease control, integrated and multilayer cropping and marketing.

In view of the importance of the organic farming, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore aiming to create awareness, and environment friendly farming.  The programme would be based on five important topics like soil health, water conservation, pest management and disease control, integrated and multilayer cropping and marketing. It would be packed with sharing of innovative and successful stories of agricultural practices and inspirational talks along with an interaction session.

The seminar would have experts speak on organic farming. It is aimed at creating awareness about organic farming that is environment-friendly.

The Coimbatore chapter of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to hold an agri seminar `Uzhave thalai' on June 23 from 9 am to 5.30 pm at Hindustan College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore.

Chamber President Vanitha Mohan said organic farming had to be promoted and many had interest in farming but lacked sufficient knowledge. "Last year we had around 1,200 participants and nearly 50 percent of them are following us and have registered this year too. The response this time is high and 450 people have already registered till now," she said.

The chamber decided to make this a platform to attract new entrants. This would be a fresh start for new entrants, said adviser Mani Sundar.

The speakers are: Dr G Sivaraman (mentor of Uzhave Thalai), Mani Sundar (organic farmer), Dr. Sultan Ismail (Eco Science Research Foundation), S R Sundaram (pest management), Madhu Ramakrishnan (author and farmer), M Krishnamoorthy (multi-layer farmer), P Sethuram (soil management), M V Ramachandrulu and S Rajadurai (Water Conservation Experts), Thirugnanam Periyasamy (founder of Uyir Organic) and R S Venkatraman (Agri Marketing Expert).
