Agricultural skills are playing a significant role in transforming the youth into agripreneurs so that they can be self-employed as well as provide employment to others through an ambitious programme of Government of India like - Make in India, Skill India, and Digital India.

A 3-day training of trainers under Skill Development Programme of Agriculture, Skill Council of India for KVKs of ICAR-ATARI, Zone-II was inaugurated at SKRAU, Bikaner. The main objective of the training is to provide hands-on training to Master Trainers on various job roles (qualification packs and model curriculum) so that they can further provide training to rural youth for minimum 200 hours duration for their self-employment. About 65 participants from Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi and 10 participants from Madhya Pradesh on 16 job roles participated in the programme.

Prof. B. R. Chippa, Vice Chancellor, SKRAU, Bikaner and Chief Guest of the occasion mentioned that India lacks agricultural skills and practices in comparison to other developing countries. Hence, there is a need to plan and execute the skill development programmes in an efficient manner to fulfill Prime Minister’s vision to double farmers’ income by 2022 and also for the growth of the economy as a whole.

Dr. S.K. Sharma, Director of Extension Education, SKRAU, Bikaner mentioned that agricultural skills play an important role in transforming youth into agripreneurs so that they can be self-employed as well as provide employment to others through an ambitious programme of Government of India.
