Agriculture to get industry status - Nirmala Sitharaman

Agriculture may soon get the industry status, the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had mentioned on the fourth banking and economics conclave of state bank of India at Mumbai.

Agriculture may soon get the industry status, the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had mentioned on the fourth banking and economics conclave of state bank of India at Mumbai.

Nirmala Sitharaman said, “I am in favour of an according to industry status to agrarian system” and she also added that more than half of population is involved in agriculture hence it is necessary to enhance  benefits and she reminded the policies that opened up the doors in foreign direct investment of  plantation crops (orchards of citrus fruits). She added that she is she is very hopeful to open entire sector for industry benefits for the benefit of the agrarian economy.

She expressed the potential of agriculture to become a strong export sector and looked hopeful in making agriculture as an industry. This can be a touch of relief to aggrieved stakeholders in agriculture.  Prime Minister had made it clear that his government is seriously working upon doubling the farmers’ income by the year 2022.
