AI has the potential to enhance precision, efficiency, and supervision in IVF treatment, ultimately leading to an increase in its success rate. This topic was a focal point of discussion during a recent conference hosted by the Indian Fertility Society (IFS) on a Sunday.

Here is What Officials Say About May AI Increase IVF Treatment Success Rate

Dr Geeta Khanna, the vice president of the IFS, discussed the increasing significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the realm of IVF treatment. She highlighted that AI in IVF can play a pivotal role in the selection of optimal combinations of eggs and sperm, as well as in predicting the quality of embryos. AI can aid clinicians in customizing treatment plans tailored to individual patients, thereby enhancing the likelihood of success.

Dr Kuldeep Nair, the president of IFS, emphasized that the quality of female gametes is closely tied to factors such as follicle size, egg morphology, and other critical characteristics. Similarly, sperm quality is associated with factors like morphology, concentration, and motility. AI can eliminate the subjective human element in the process of gamete selection, providing impartial assessments.

Dr Surveen Ghumman, the general secretary of IFS, pointed out that in the post-Covid era, medical professionals have observed a decline in both the quality and quantity of eggs in women as young as 27 years old. Furthermore, Covid-19 has had a detrimental impact on sperm quality in males. Dr Ghumman noted that lifestyle-related conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and delayed marriages are common underlying causes of infertility and high-risk pregnancies.

What is IVF?

In vitro fertilization, commonly abbreviated as IVF, is a groundbreaking reproductive technology that has revolutionized the field of assisted reproductive medicine. IVF is a sophisticated procedure that offers hope and opportunities to individuals and couples struggling with infertility or facing reproductive challenges. By enabling the creation of embryos outside the human body, IVF has opened doors to parenthood for countless individuals who may have otherwise been unable to conceive naturally.

This remarkable process involves the controlled manipulation of eggs and sperm in a laboratory setting, ultimately leading to the formation of embryos that can be implanted into the uterus, offering the possibility of a successful pregnancy. In this introduction, we will delve into the key components, processes, and advancements associated with in vitro fertilization, shedding light on how this remarkable technology has transformed the landscape of reproductive medicine.
