Alert! 20 Lakh Farmers Will Have to Return the Instalment of PM Kisan Samman; Know Why?

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan), Rs. 1.364 Crore has been wrongly credited to the account of 20.48 lakh disqualified beneficiaries. And the most disqualified beneficiaries are the farmers of Punjab.

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan), Rs. 1.364 Crore has been wrongly credited to the account of 20.48 lakh disqualified beneficiaries.

And the most disqualified beneficiaries are the farmers of Punjab. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Assam. More than half of the total disqualified farmers, i.e. 55.58 percent are income tax payers. And the remaining ones are those who do not meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme. The government has now started the process of recovering the amount paid to the ineligible beneficiaries.

Most Ineligible Farmers in Which States?

As per the information, Punjab has the most of the ineligible beneficiaries, 4.74 lakh, i.e. 23.6 percent of the total disqualified beneficiaries. And is followed by Assam with 3.45 lakh, i.e. 16.8 percent. And next Maharashtra, 2.86 lakh, i.e. 13.99 percent. And then Gujrat with 1.64 lakh, i.e. 8.05 percent, and then Uttar Pradesh with 1.64 lakh, i.e. 8.01 percent.

Who are Not Eligible for this Scheme?

  • Farmers who are using agricultural land for other purposes instead of farming.
  • If a farmer is doing farming, but the field is not in his name. Even if the farm is named after his father or grandfather, he can not avail the benefit of this scheme.
  • If someone owns agricultural land, but is a government employee or retired, the incumbent or former MP, MLA, Minister, or any constitutional post or former person does not get the benefit of PM Kisan Yojana.
  • Professional registered doctors, engineers, lawyers, charted accountants.
  • If a person owns a farm but gets a pension of more than Rs. 10,000 a month, he cannot be a beneficiary of this scheme.

At the same time, it is an estimation that the amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi can be increased to 10,000 rupees in the budget 2021-22. However, it has not been officially announced yet.
