ALERT: Swine Flu makes a comeback as Air Pollution Deteriorates, Temperature Drops in Delhi

Fresh crisis of swine flu has emerged in Delhi amidst deteriorating air pollution and chilly winters. Several hospitals have reported many cases of swine flu in the city.

Leading hospitals like Safdarjung, AIIMS, RML, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and BLK have already started witnessing patients infected with H1N1 virus.

Spokesperson of RML Hospital Smriti Tiwari said, “RML Hospital till date has reported about 100 suspected patients of swine flu virus with 10 positive cases while two deaths. The recent death happened in the month of September”.

Doctors at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and AIIMS also confirmed few cases of H1N1. Head of respiratory medicine department at Fortis hospital, Dr Vikas Maurya also confirmed about some cases.

Dr Sandeep Nayar, HOD, respiratory medicine at BLK Hospital told, "We have seen 4 positive cases of H1N1. And as winters are ahead, more cases are expected to come up. The most susceptible groups include children less than 5 years of age, pregnant women, elderly people and patients who are pre-medically disposed”.

Dr Rajendra Sharma, Medical superintendent at Safdarjung hospital also told that the hospital has seen 5 positive cases and 1 death this year.
