Alert! These States Likely to Witness Heavy Rain during next 24 hours; Thundershower to Continue in North West India

The low-pressure area lies over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal. Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. It is very likely to become more marked over the same region during next 24 hours, concentrate into a depression over Andaman Sea & adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours and likely to intensify further thereafter. Under the influence of trough/Wind Discontinuity, Peninsular India is likely to experience isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers during the next 4 days, says the Indian Meteorological Department in its morning bulletin.  

Northeast & Eastern States Likely to Witness Heavy Rain 

Ongoing intense thunderstorm activity over Northeast India & adjoining Eastern states likely to continue during next 4 days.  

Rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains of North-West India 

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains of North-West India from 3rd May onwards. 

Rain/Thundershowers observed at many places over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha; at a few place over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.  

As per yesterday’s reports, thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hrs IST of yesterday to 0530 hrs IST of today): at a few places over Odisha and at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & south interior Karnataka, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. 

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) t many places over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Gujarat region.
