Due to prevailing dry northwesterly winds over plains of northwest India & Central India and north-south trough in continue lower tropospheric levels from east India to south Peninsular India, heat wave conditions very likely to to prevails over plains of northwest India and central & adjoining south Peninsular India during next 4 to 5 days with peak intensity on 25th & 26th May, 2020, says Indian Meteorological Department weather forecast.

As per reports, heat wave conditions over some parts with severe heat wave at isolated pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana during next 4-5 days.

Heat Wave conditions in isolated pockets over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra

On the other hand, heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalseema and North Interior Karnataka during next 3-4 days. Under the influence of a Western Disturbance and formation of east-west trough in lower levels, heat wave conditions are likely to reduce substantially over the plains of North India from 29th May.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over adjoining parts of east India during 24th-28th

Due to strong southerly wind from Bay of Bengal to northeast India at lower tropospheric levels; Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely at isolated places over parts of northeastern states and Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over adjoining parts of east India during 24th-28th. Heavy rainfall at isolated places over parts south peninsular India during 26th-28th May, 2020.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Lat.5°N/Long.85°E, Lat.8°N/Long.90°E, Car Nicobar, Lat.11°N/Long.95°E.

Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh; at isolated place over South Interior Karnataka.

As per yesterday’s reports, heat wave conditions were reported in some parts with severe heat wave in isolated pockets over West Rajasthan; heat wave conditions at many places over Vidarbha and in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathawada, Haryana & Delhi, Saurashtra & Kutch and Madhya Maharashtra.

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over West Uttar Pradesh and Marathwada; at many places over Uttarakhand, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh.
