The central government has always worked hard to train retiring employees and resolve their pre-retirement inquiries. In one such initiative, the DPPW or Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has launched the SANKALP scheme.

The main motive of SANKALP initiative is - reorienting the pensioners towards an active post retired life and profitably utilize their skill as well as experience towards nation building activities & social work. Under the SANKALP initiative, Pre-Retirement Counsellings (PRCs) are conducted for the central government employees who are close to retirement, may be in a year or so. In Pre-Retirement dues, information is also being shared regarding active post-retirement life. Let’s discuss few more things about this initiative:

What is SANKALP?

SANKALP - is an initiative of Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India that gives a platform for the pensioners to access opportunities available for constructive interventions in the society. SANKALP also facilitates the organizations working in these areas to select suitable skill as well as expertise from the available group of volunteer pensioners. Another main element of this initiative is to carry out Pre-retirement Counselling Workshops to assist the retiring employees to transit easily into their second innings.

Who can register under SANKALP?

People who can register under this great initiative are - Pensioners, Pensioners’ Associations & Non-Government Organisations (NGO).

At the moment, only Central Government Civil Pensioners, Defence Retirees and Defence Civilians are entitled for registration under the SANKALP.

What are the important requirements for registration of pensioners?

Here are the lists of documents that will be required for registration of pensioners under SANKALP:

12 digit pension payment order or PPO for the Central Government civilian Pensioners & service number.

Rank & record office for retired defence personnel.

Proof of Date of Birth, Date of Superannuation, Designation, Department or Ministry, PAN Number & Mobile Number.

How can a pensioner get registered under SANKALP?

Here is the easiest way to get registered under SANKALP initiative:

Pensioners just need to submit the pensioner registration form available on the official website - pensionersportal.gov.in/Sankalp

In addition, a self-attested copy of the 12-digit PPO has to be sent to the Department of Pensions & Pensioners' Welfare. After proper verification, they are registered & are provided the login details (ID & password) through which they can log in and avail the benefit.
