Assessment and Dissemination of Climate Resilient Agricultural Technologies

Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) in  collaboration  with World Vision India in implementing the project “Assessment and dissemination of climate resilient agricultural technologies in two districts of Bihar, namely, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali with full financial and logistic support from World Vision to the knowledge partner IARI.

World Vision India organization is already working in different parts of country with a focus on nutritional upliftment of children and women and wishes to extend their ambit of activity through agriculture with the help of IARI.

A MoU was convened under the Chairmanship of Dr. A. K. Singh, Director, IARI and DDG (Extension), ICAR at the Director’s board room of central office on 1st March, 2018 at 12.30pm. The occasion was graced by Dr. J. P. Sharma, the Joint Director (Extn.), IARI. Officials from World Vision India Mr. Anil Joseph (Sr. Programme Director), Mr Anil Khandekar , Mr. Neil Devasahayam and Mr Abraham Daniel were also present. Dr. Neelam Patel, In Charge, CPCT, Dr. Y. V. Singh, Principal Scientist, Microbiology, Dr. R. Roy Burman, Principal Scientist, Extension, Dr. Nafees Ahmad, Dr. S. Chakravorty, Senior Scientists from CATAT, Dr. Ritu Jain, Senior Scientist, Floriculture, Dr. Sudipta Paul, Scientist, Extension and Ms. Shubhashree Sahu, Scientist, CATAT were present in the event.

The MoU was signed by Dr. A. K. Singh, Director, IARI, Dr. J. P. Sharma, Joint Director (Extn.), IARI and Mr Anil Joseph (Sr. Director- Prog. from World Vision India. As per the agreement IARI- New Delhi will collaborate with World Vision India in implementing the project “Assessment and dissemination of climate resilient agricultural technologies in two districts of Bihar, namely, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali with full financial and logistic support from World Vision to the knowledge partner IARI. World Vision India organization is already working in different parts of country with a focus on nutritional upliftment of children and women and wishes to extend their ambit of activity through agriculture with the help of IARI.

The Director, IARI advised to promote nutrition through extension training, motivation and use of nutritionally rich crop varieties. He also suggested to take up the whole village under the developmental activities of the project so that everybody in the village can feel the touch of the project.

He also advised to capitalize on the services of local KVKs, ATARI, SAUs and IARI regional station so that it becomes a multi-institutional collaboration with IARI in the lead role.

Dr. J. P. Sharma, Joint Director (Ext.)also reiterated the need of such a convergence model for synergistic effort lead to inclusive development. He also emphasized on post-production management of agricultural produce including packaging, processing, value addition and marketing for doubling farmers’ income.
